Priority 01
A steady mentor
Time, attention and practical guidance. A trusted adult can help a young person turn a difficult question into a manageable next step.
Mentoring is a relationship, not a motivational speech. We value clear expectations, consistent contact and goals that a young person helps set. Conversations can cover school choices, confidence, career interests or simply how to approach a problem.
Appropriate boundaries and supervision matter. Any work involving minors should have a defined safeguarding process before contact begins.
Priority 02
Books that open doors
Reading should begin with curiosity. Access to books, a place to read and the freedom to choose are foundations worth building.
A useful collection reflects the people reading it: different languages, interests, reading levels and experiences. Books should be accessible without embarrassment or unnecessary barriers.
We value choice. A graphic novel, a practical guide or a story someone sees themselves in can be the beginning of a lasting reading habit.
Priority 03
Ready for learning
School supplies and everyday essentials help young people arrive prepared, participate with confidence and concentrate on learning.
Notebooks, writing materials and age-appropriate learning supplies can remove an everyday source of stress. The right items depend on the school, the course and the young person.
Practical support should be discreet and useful. It should never require a child to share a personal story publicly to receive essentials.
Priority 04
Support that fits
Grants can help address specific barriers. The starting point is understanding what a young person or local organisation actually needs.
Grants are a way to address a defined need, rather than offer a promise of unlimited assistance. Good decisions require a clear purpose, a realistic budget and an understanding of who benefits.
Specific eligibility, amounts and application windows must be confirmed for each opportunity. This website does not announce an open grant round or guarantee funding.
